Just landed a $10k client

Hi Reader

High-ticket buyers are still buying. Even in this sluggish economy. Even when buyers are extremely choosy and filled with skepticism.

How do I know?

Last week I landed a 5-figure launch copy client. (Without a massive marketing campaign or posting on social media.)

Instead it came from my small, trusted network and few powerful strategies I've been using to build authority and trust.

I'm not sharing this to brag...

I'm sharing this to remind you that in this economy premium buyers are looking for someone with your level of expertise who can help them reach their goals.

And yet I continue to see too many brilliant, seasoned business owners leaving money on the table because they're playing too small or unknowingly sabotaging their high-ticket sales.

If you're picking up what I'm putting down, then you should attend the free masterclass I'm hosting next week:

The Premium Pipeline Strategy

I'm going to show you the strategies I use to land high-ticket clients (including something new I tried with my latest client that worked like a charm!).

We're going to cover how to fill your client calendar and build a waitlist of high-ticket clients, even if you have a tiny list and don't want to waste time on social media. (Spoiler: you don't need a massive following. You need the right positioning and the right message.)

It's a power-packed 60-minute masterclass that'll help you shift your messaging so it's more appealing to high-ticket buyers.

But I gotta address the elephant in the room.

A lot of business owners (especially women) second-guess whether they're ready to charge premium rates.

Have you ever said something like this when you think about commanding higher rates?

"No one in my audience will pay that much."

"I'm not expert enough yet."

"I'll alienate my current followers if I raise my prices."

If you have said something along these lines to yourself, then I have to (kindly) call you in.

Because these are common misconceptions or beliefs that block women from working with premium clients.

In my work with my 1:1 clients and the members of my premium sales accelerator, Pivot to Premium, I see common themes that prevent brilliant business owners from leveling-up.

Myth #1: My niche or services can’t command premium rates

This is a total myth. Almost every niche has a premium segment. Whether you’re a dog walker, a bookkeeper, a photographer, a fitness trainer, a therapist, or a copywriter, you can reposition your offer to serve a premium market.

Anytime I think I can’t charge that much, I look around, see what others are charging, and then I change my thinking: If they can do it, I can too.

Myth #2: Nobody in my audience will pay that much

If you’ve only been selling entry-level or low-ticket offers, it probably feels like you don’t have the right audience to buy a premium offer. But high-ticket buyers are out there. They’re lurking in your orbit, waiting for you to say you can solve their problems. They want a white-glove, high-level experience, but if all they see is you solving beginner problems, they won’t know you can handle advanced ones. A few simple shifts in your messaging and positioning will help attract those premium buyers.

Myth #3: If I go premium, I’ll alienate my audience

Fake News! When you shift to solving more advanced problems, your audience of Newbies will still be inspired by your elevated positioning. They’ll see your new messaging and the elevated solutions as the ultimate goal. Meanwhile, premium buyers will finally see that you can solve their high-level problems.

Myth #4: I need a bigger audience before I can sell high-ticket

This is some of the biggest marketing BS we’ve been sold. You don’t need thousands of followers. I’ve surpassed 6 figures in revenue every year in my business with less than 1,000 people on my email list and only a few thousand followers across social media because I consistently sell high-ticket packages.

You need a small but mighty audience that knows, likes, and trusts you, plus personal relationships and referral partners. That’s it.

Myth #5: I’m not enough of an expert yet

This one hits Gen X women especially hard - and I know it cuz I've been there. When I started my business, I couldn’t even call myself a copywriter. I dumbed it down to “wordsmith” even though I had almost 2 decades of career experience under my belt.

If you're a Gen-Xer, you have decades of real-world experience that people will pay serious money to access. Premium buyers aren't looking for someone who took a weekend course. They're looking for someone seasoned who can actually partner with them. That's you.

Myth #6: If I charge more, I’ll have to do more (and burn out)

When done right, the opposite is true. Premium pricing is about sharper positioning and smarter offers - it's not about doing more or over-delivering. You work with fewer clients who are a better fit. This creates higher margins, which means more energy back in your week.

Myth #7: It’s greedy or unethical to raise my prices

Please hear me when I say this: there is nothing wrong with charging premium rates for the transformation you can create. Premium pricing generates more profit margin, so you can show up more fully for your clients and your life. You can hire help, donate to causes, or even create scholarships. Premium pricing creates the spaciousness and sustainability to do more good.

Reader, did you find yourself nodding along to any of the above?

"Okay - I need everyone listening to rewind and listen to that minute over again. And then rewind it and listen to it again." That's what Sara, a business coach for healers and helpers, said after I shared my perspective on sales and selling. Sara recently had me on her podcast to chat about high ticket selling - and we covered everything from the mindset gremlins that influence our pricing decisions, to our fear of selling high-ticket offers, to the surprising downsides of charging too...

Hey Reader! I opened my inbox yesterday morning and was horrified by what I saw. Some absolute douchecanoe, who's been hounding me for weeks with his offer to help me keep my emails out of the spam folder and promotions tab, used the Epstein files as a subject line hook. Now, as an email marketer, I have a LOT of tolerance for different formulas and hooks that others dislike (like using Re: in the subject line, for example). However, this crossed a line for me. My response was swift: John...

Hi Reader! I'm keeping this one short. It's Earth Day. And I have one very important piece of marketing advice for you today: Close the laptop. Put down the phone. Go outside. I know you work hard. You care deeply about what you do and the people you serve. You go the extra mile for your family. And that's exactly why you need to go stand in the sun (or snow, depending where you are) for a few minutes today. There's actual science behind this. Time in nature is linked to lower stress, better...
