close this email and go outside

Hi Reader!

I'm keeping this one short.

It's Earth Day. And I have one very important piece of marketing advice for you today:

Close the laptop. Put down the phone. Go outside.

I know you work hard. You care deeply about what you do and the people you serve. You go the extra mile for your family.

And that's exactly why you need to go stand in the sun (or snow, depending where you are) for a few minutes today.

There's actual science behind this.

Time in nature is linked to lower stress, better mood, and more creative thinking.

The outside world engages your brain in a quieter way that lets your attention refocus. Getting outside for "some air" can nudge your brain into a new thought pattern.

Which means being in nature is actually a smart business strategy.

I'm taking my own advice today - I'm going to go for a bike ride to the river and enjoy the springy fragrance of the balsam poplars (if I could bottle it up and wear it, I would!).

Go outside. Watch some birds. Come back renewed to do great things.

Happy Earth Day 🌿

High Ticket Sales for Helpers and Healers with Kim Kiel

"Okay - I need everyone listening to rewind and listen to that minute over again. And then rewind it and listen to it again." That's what Sara, a business coach for healers and helpers, said after I shared my perspective on sales and selling. Sara recently had me on her podcast to chat about high ticket selling - and we covered everything from the mindset gremlins that influence our pricing decisions, to our fear of selling high-ticket offers, to the surprising downsides of charging too...

Hey Reader! I opened my inbox yesterday morning and was horrified by what I saw. Some absolute douchecanoe, who's been hounding me for weeks with his offer to help me keep my emails out of the spam folder and promotions tab, used the Epstein files as a subject line hook. Now, as an email marketer, I have a LOT of tolerance for different formulas and hooks that others dislike (like using Re: in the subject line, for example). However, this crossed a line for me. My response was swift: John...

Hey there Reader! So I think I'm pretty good at a few things: πŸ‘ writing copy πŸ‘ capturing a client's voice πŸ‘ singing and busting a move πŸ‘ whipping up a decent meal in 15 minutes But there's one thing I'm extra good at... πŸ‘‰ Procrastinating doing my finances - and in particular my taxes (which are due at the end of April in Canada , and today in the US). πŸ˜– Sometimes looking at and managing your finances can be stressful. And when it comes close to tax time, I find very novel ways of distracting...
