I audited 12 websites -> here's what I saw

Yo Reader

I recently audited 12 websites from consultants, coaches, and service-based entrepreneurs.

Every one is smart, seasoned, and has a clear body of work.

And every one had gaps that were likely costing them premium clients.

Here’s what I saw:

1) They were selling and solving the wrong problem

Nearly everyone was still speaking to beginner-level problems…

➡️ “Get organized”

➡️ “Get clarity”

➡️ “Start your business”

… but their ideal clients - the ones who are willing to pay premium rates for a premium level of service - are beyond that.

Premium buyers already know their problem, they don't need to "unpack" more of what's wrong. Instead, they’re looking for someone who can guide them to an advanced outcome.

But if your message is unintentionally aimed at beginners, advanced buyers won’t see themselves and they'll scroll on by or delete the email without clicking.

Premium messaging = solving advanced, “champagne-level” problems.

2) Their benefits were too generic

When I reviewed the websites, I saw most talked about:

clarity

confidence

strategy

But those are are the basics of any offer. That's the bare minimum, not the differentiator.

Premium buyers want to know:

✔ What’s the transformation?

✔ Do you have a process that'll get me there?

✔ What becomes possible because they worked with you?

3) Their experience was hidden

This was surprising to me. Many of the websites I audited were underselling the incredible experience the consultants and experts had.

These are brilliant women with decades of expertise, but they were "burying the lead" as we say in copywriting - meaning they were hiding the true headline.

They weren’t showcasing:

  • Outstanding client outcomes
  • Their unique POV, framework or methodology
  • The depth of their career experience and real-world credibility

Premium buyers look for mastery. They want to know they’re in expert hands.

So tell them.

4) Their messaging lacked premium signals and a clear path forward

Here's the thing.

Premium buyers, especially midlife buyers, don’t have time or energy to decode your offer or expertise.

If you confuse, you lose.

Premium clients look for a few key cues:

✔ Mastery that leads to tangible outcomes

✔ Clear processes or frameworks

✔ Case studies and data

✔ Confidence

✔ Easy steps to work with you

Most websites I reviewed had none of that.

And it makes the buyer work too hard.

When I reviewed these websites, I gave each business owner a clear roadmap to make immediate improvements to their websites and messaging to fill the messaging gaps and appeal to more premium buyers.

See if Pivot to Premium's Right for You

If you know you’re capable of bigger results, higher-caliber clients, and better money…

It’s not your expertise.

It’s not your industry.

It's not your passion or purpose.

It’s your messaging + positioning.

That's what determines whether premium buyers recognize you as “the one.”

And that’s the focus of the work we do together inside Pivot to Premium.

Last thing…

If there’s one thing those 12 audits proved:

Almost everyone I reviewed was already poised for premium…

They just needed messaging + positioning to match the caliber of their expertise.

If that feels true for you, I can help you refine, elevate and implement your new premium message.

Those high-ticket clients are closer than you think.

Hey Reader! I opened my inbox yesterday morning and was horrified by what I saw. Some absolute douchecanoe, who's been hounding me for weeks with his offer to help me keep my emails out of the spam folder and promotions tab, used the Epstein files as a subject line hook. Now, as an email marketer, I have a LOT of tolerance for different formulas and hooks that others dislike (like using Re: in the subject line, for example). However, this crossed a line for me. My response was swift: John...

Hi Reader! I'm keeping this one short. It's Earth Day. And I have one very important piece of marketing advice for you today: Close the laptop. Put down the phone. Go outside. I know you work hard. You care deeply about what you do and the people you serve. You go the extra mile for your family. And that's exactly why you need to go stand in the sun (or snow, depending where you are) for a few minutes today. There's actual science behind this. Time in nature is linked to lower stress, better...
