Let's yap about premium sales

Apparently I've been living under a MASSIVE rock.

Because I completely missed one of the BIGGEST LAUNCHES OF OUR TIME until it was actually over - and then saw everyone yapping about how impressive this launch was.

So, if you're like me and a little out of the loop, let me catch you up.

An online creator named Jessi Jean recently stopped her 7+ year overeating/nutrition coaching business to pivot to something that felt lighter and more fun. She an AMAZING following in the range of 130k followers and had supported thousands of clients in that former business (according to an old post I found on her previous channel).

In the fall of 2025 she launched a new IG profile and started yapping about the Millennial career crisis, finances and making money (incl side hustles), content creation, tech/AI, and parenting Gen Alpha.

A few of her reels - particularly one about the Millennial career crisis - went viral and grew her following rapidly. (though she has been accused of "stealing" this content from another creator...)

As she experimented with her content pillars, she saw that content about yapping online (aka talking head videos) got the most attention and engagement.

In response to the interest, she created and launched a 6-week Yap on Camera Challenge priced at $297.

She thought MAAAYBE she'd make $100k.

Instead she sold the challenge to over 4000 buyers and made $1.2Million dollars!

And that's why the internet is losing its mind.

Everyone and their dog is sharing hot takes, critiques, and takeaways about this person who seemingly came up from out of nowhere, grew a massive following in a short time, and had a 7-figure launch in a time when "online courses are dead!" with zero ad spend and basically no team or infrastructure.

I want to share a few insights I haven't really seen people talk about yet (doesn't mean these insights haven't been shared - I just haven't seen them in the content I've searched).

Here's what worked in her favor:

1.She has a CLEAR niche market

She is SUUUPER clear her audience is Millennials who are frustrated with their career path and financial situation. She knows her audience are parents who want more freedom, money and enjoyment in life. She taps into their frustration AND shares her own journey to find more money and freedom through side hustles.

2. She has a unique framework or mechanism

While she didn't coin the term "yapping" she went all-in on using this familiar term (over "talking head video" or "content strategist"). Yapping sounds fun and doable. And in her content she shares some of the steps and strategies to create great content that makes money.

3. She didn't sell a COURSE. She sold IMPLEMENTATION.

As I highlighted in my 2026 Marketing Trends Masterclass at the beginning of the year and in my Premium Pipeline webinars, buyers today don't want more information or courses. We are DROWNING in information.

People want to be shown HOW to implement the information. Jessi's 40-day Yap Challenge is a vehicle to DO the thing (not just learn about it).

4. She built community and belonging

In the beginning she tapped into community and belonging by speaking to frustrated Millennials, and by sharing her own life experiences - and inviting them to share theirs. Now that the launch is over, she's referring to her community as the "Yap Homies" (which I absolutely LOVE). Community and belonging are core human needs and are an important marketing and sales strategy. If you don't create belonging, you won't sell.

In brief, she nailed the foundations of smart marketing and sales.

Whether you're selling a $297, a $2,097, or a $20,097 offer - you NEED these foundations dialed in (along with a few other elements of price point, timing, and a bit of luck).

I didn't see the Yap Challenge until it was long gone because I'm not her target market. I'm not a Millennial. I don't have young kids. And I don't want to yap in talking head videos.

It's been fun to analyze her launch and review the takeaways and critiques through a lens of marketing mastery.

My biggest takeaway is that there is still so much possibility and opportunity for all of us.

The Universe is infinite and what's possible for one person is possible for all of us. I'm more motivated than ever to create no-brainer offers for my ideal audience at all price points.

I'm curious if you got caught up in Jessi Jean's Yap Challenge launch and if you bought her offer? I've been hearing it's great!

Of course, if you want some time and guidance to dial in those foundations - your niche, your messaging, your mechanism - you should jump into Monday's Master Your Hight Ticket Message workshop. I'll walk you step by step to identify where you might be sabotaging your sales and what you can do to sell more high-ticket offers.

I've reached a new low, Reader. The other day I was reviewing a client's rough first draft of a lead magnet e-book, and left this comment in her Google doc: I know it's not the most professional editorial comment, but it was in response to an insipid phrase Claude had generated for my client. It's the kind of phrase I'm seeing over and over again in emails, posts, and marketing material generated with AI. And let me say right off the bat... I LOVE that AI tools are available to help busy,...

Hey Reader Entrepreneurship is a MF roller coaster. I started last week with a verbal confirmation on a contract that would have had me fully booked out until Q4. By the end of the week, that client backed out. You'd think I'd know by now to not count my chickens until they signed the contract. 🙄 And on Friday, I learned another client is downsizing her team, installing AI agents, and I'm likely the next on the chopping block. I went from feeling like hot shit, to feeling pretty shitty. I...

Hi Reader A few months back, I was hired by an Indigenous consulting firm to help with their messaging and positioning. They're incredibly effective in their work to help mid-sized corporations integrate and embed meaningful Reconciliation action plans, and create a more equitable workplace for all. I know they're effective because I interviewed several of their clients who couldn't say enough great things. They needed a little help because they felt their messaging wasn't effectively...
