I feel so stupid

Hey Reader

So, over the last couple weeks I've been getting emails from Kit (the email service provider that I use for sending my emails) talking about "The Kit MCP."

The first email I received made me feel incredibly stupid.

I had NO IDEA what they were talking about.

It was like I was reading something in a foreign language.

I clicked the link in the email hoping it would clarify what THE KIT MCP was - but still no clue.

I gleaned it had something to do with AI... but was it like a bot, an agent or a skill?

No freaking clue.

I even hit reply to ask WTF a MCP is. (they didn't respond)

I then began to see my peers posting about "THE KIT MCP" but nowhere is anyone explaining what MCP is.

Is it Master Content Programmer?

Is it My Creator Personality?

Or a Mail Carrier Pigeon?

I feel incredibly stupid. Out of the loop. And filled with shame.

Guess what I'm not doing as a result of those feelings...

... SIGNING UP FOR THEIR EVENT OR THEIR OFFER!

Not knowing what they're talking about creates WAAAAY too much friction for me to say yes, even to a free event.

So this morning I posted on Threads asking for help.

Kit (finally) replied:

MCP = Model Context Protocol. It's what connects AI tools directly to programs like Kit.

Here's the thing.

While I'm not a power user, I have used AI and invested in several AI trainings since it first popped on the scene a few years ago. I'm not a real technical luddite. And I'm certainly not a dummy.

But not knowing what Kit (and others) were talking about sure made me feel like one.

And it's a great reminder about how important it is to choose our words carefully and why we need to be mindful of using jargon and insider terminology in our messaging.

Not everyone knows what a "funnel" is (aside from the thing you use to fill your pocket flask)

Or what neurosomatic means.

Or what accounts receivable is.

Or what identity work is.

If you use a term your audience isn't familiar with, it could create friction, or worse, shame.

If you're not sure if your audience knows the meaning of a term or an acronym, include a definition. Or choose a less jargon-y word.

So help me out.

Did you know what MCP means?

Or am I really that dumb and out of the loop...

Be honest. I can take it!

P.S. I just got an exciting email from the newest member to join Pivot to Premium (my group messaging program).

Brandi used some of the messaging and tactics I shared in the latest version of my free training The Premium Pipeline Strategy.

She wanted to soft-launch a new premium membership. She reviewed her messaging and tactics through the lens of the strategies I shared during the masterclass.

She tightened her offer. Got clear on the outcomes and transformation. She made personal reach outs to ready-to-buy leads.

And immediately made 2 sales! 🥳

Which, as she says, basically pays for her first month in Pivot to Premium.

But here's the kicker.

She hasn't actually accessed any of the training, tools and templates inside the Pivot to Premium program. She hasn't even had her kick-off call yet!

She was just using the premium pipeline strategies she took from the free masterclass.

If she got that much value and momentum from the free training, I know she's going to make tremendous leaps in her business with the support and 1:1 coaching she'll access in Pivot to Premium.

So I thought maybe you'd be interested in watching the replay to get some tactics and takeaways you could implement immediately.

If you haven't seen the Premium Pipeline Strategy training - GO WATCH IT NOW.

I've reached a new low, Reader. The other day I was reviewing a client's rough first draft of a lead magnet e-book, and left this comment in her Google doc: I know it's not the most professional editorial comment, but it was in response to an insipid phrase Claude had generated for my client. It's the kind of phrase I'm seeing over and over again in emails, posts, and marketing material generated with AI. And let me say right off the bat... I LOVE that AI tools are available to help busy,...

Hey Reader Entrepreneurship is a MF roller coaster. I started last week with a verbal confirmation on a contract that would have had me fully booked out until Q4. By the end of the week, that client backed out. You'd think I'd know by now to not count my chickens until they signed the contract. 🙄 And on Friday, I learned another client is downsizing her team, installing AI agents, and I'm likely the next on the chopping block. I went from feeling like hot shit, to feeling pretty shitty. I...

Hi Reader A few months back, I was hired by an Indigenous consulting firm to help with their messaging and positioning. They're incredibly effective in their work to help mid-sized corporations integrate and embed meaningful Reconciliation action plans, and create a more equitable workplace for all. I know they're effective because I interviewed several of their clients who couldn't say enough great things. They needed a little help because they felt their messaging wasn't effectively...
